We are very pleased to announce that Barry Frost has been appointed as Nunnykirk’s new head teacher and he will take up the post in the Autumn term following the retirement of Carol Hodgson later this month.

Our kitchen staff were delighted to welcome environmental health staff from the council to inspect the kitchens recently - as it resulted in a five star rating!

Two of our sixth form students are heading for a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp in Poland this week (November 7) after having been awarded places by the Holocaust Educational Trust.

Nunnykirk has been awarded a Good Schools Guide subject award for the quality of teaching and GCSE exam results in Art and Design (Photography). 
The school has won the award four years in a row.

Popular local blues band the Poor Boys will play a special fundraising gig on Friday 16 March at 7.30pm.

One week to go and the tension is high. Will this year’s play go ahead? For the last two years the play has had to be cancelled due to snow and we are keeping our fingers crossed that this year we will have a performance – the pupils and Mr Nicholson have worked very hard towards this and everyone is looking forward to Friday... 
We would also like to take this opportunity to wish everyone – pupils, staff and parents – a very merry Christmas and a happy new year in 2012.

The school will be opening its doors to visitors on the morning of Tuesday 22 November (10.45am - 12.30pm). Pupils will act as official guides around the magnificent John Dobson designed school and visitors can meet pupils and teachers and tour the school.
